wild
April 15, 2013
Maggie and Buttercup were wild about tea.
The word of the week, over there at Illustration Friday is “wild,” but all I could scare up was this docile boar, so he’ll just have to do.

So, anywho, I was going to post this yesterday for the Illustration Friday theme “Talent” but missed it by THIS much. Soooo, since this week’s theme is “Yesterday”…

SkADaMo Day 24
November 24, 2012
Some of my favorite be-whiskered folk are otters.
Ya know, for some reason, even though I realize they are different critters, “Muskrat Love” was playing in my noggin while I drew these guys. Something about “nibbling on bacon, chewin’ on cheese…”
Swing by here for some fellow SkADaMo shenanigans and check out Illustration Friday‘s “Whiskers” this week. And for a giant shot of inspiration, check out PiBoIdMo.
SkADaMo Day 16
November 16, 2012
Lately I’ve been feeling as if I’m moving at a snail’s pace… which wouldn’t be so bad, if it was this snail.
ZooooooooooooM!
This is a redo of a sketch from years ago. Tweaked it a bit and sketched it in digital pencil again, as opposed to the original, which was with my trusty mechanical pencil. Oh, and I killed two birds with one stone for Illustration Friday’s “Zoom.”
Actually, a couple of birds were killed with one stone (although no actual birds were harmed in the making of this post.) This is a seed for a PiBoIdMo idea. So, ya know, I’ve got that goin’ for me.
Oh, and please, when if you get a chance, stop by and take a peek at what my fellow SkADaMoers are doing using the link at the end of this post right here.
SkADaMo Day 2
November 2, 2012
Happy Dia De Los Muertos!
Actually, not sure that’s an appropriate salutation, but I do know that I love the art and culture of this Latino holiday! So in honor of the day and of all our dearly departed I thought I’d do a quick skeleton sketch… skeltch if you will.
Oh, and since this wee boy skeleton is so shyly presenting his gift, I thought maybe he’d like to toddle on over to Illustration Friday.
……………….
So, wow, quite a few ambitious sketchers decided to join in on the fun of SkADaMo! Welcome one and all!
Although there are absolutely no rules to this, (unless you count the rule that there are no rules,) there were a few questions.
Some wanted to know how to use the badge. I would say simply put the badge in the sidebar of your blog. If you want to link it up, maybe put the URL to the original SkADaMo post on my blog, so people can give it a gander and maybe join us: http://sketchedout.wordpress.com/2012/11/01/skadamo-2012/
Some wanted to know how we could keep track of each other’s posts as the days go by. Perhaps the folks who are joining could leave the URL where they will be posting their SkADaMo sketch, in the comments of this post and I will create a list that I will add to the end of each of my daily posts. (Please note that I will be out of town until Tuesday, so I probably won’t get to this until then. Thanks guys!)
How to organize the sketch posts? Perhaps we could also add the tag SkADaMo to each post, which will be the static link that I’ll use for the list of everyone.
If anyone has an idea of something that would work better, please let me know. This is just a very easy, breezy, unorganized thingy. So, pretty much anything goes. But if we can make it easier to keep in touch and be inspired by each other and root each other on, that is all the better!
And that my dears is the extent of my organizational skills! I am spent, spent I tell you! (0;

mmIt was early morning and the sprinklers had just begun glitter-bombing the backyard. I was curled up on the couch with sleep still nested in the corner of my eyes, scrawling out my “morning pages.” Iggy, my calico girl, purred contentedly on one side of me, a steamy cup of freshly brewed coffee sat on the other.
Halfway through my writing, a loud THUNK startled me out of my reverie.
Iggy and I exchanged surprised looks and she joined me as I got up to inspect the patio ground for any possible stunned bird carcasses. The sound came from the French door window, so it stood to reason that one of our feathered friends could have taken a bad turn.
All was clear, or so I thought. As I began sitting down to resume my morning task, I could see from the corner of my eye, Iggy skulking back into the house with something tiny and limp in her mouth. Apparently in the stunned-bird-carcass-inspection department, she was superior to me in every way. But the involuntary scream that left my throat, stopped her in mid triumphant trot and caused her to Read the rest of this entry »

“Pppollen.” Beep stammered. “Can you please use it in a sentence?”

Once Arlo had it in his sights to master flying, there was no stopping him.
I don’t know much about owls, but I would imagine with such big peepers, this little fella’s eyesight would be incredible.
So, Illustration Friday, it’s been a while! Good to be back!

Round
November 30, 2011
After all the lovely, salty, Thanksgiving feasting and the ensuing, weeklong grazing of leftovers, I now look in the mirror and I see a blowfish.
A blowfish!
It’s time to deflate with some nice, healthy salad, methinks.
The fact that this week’s Illustration Friday theme is “round” is no coincidence, is it?
