leap
March 1, 2008
Delilah had a runny nose,
that made her cough and sneeze.
It was quite red and sniffley,
because of allergies.
Day and night her nose would run.
It caused her such disgrace.
Until one day her runny nose,
just ran right off her face.
It leaped into her lap and then
it hopped onto the floor.
Delilah watched her own nose make
a bee-line for the door.
It’s been a while and time has passed,
since her nose was set free.
Delilah doesn’t mind at all,
There’s no more allergy!
……………………………………..
It just might take a leap of faith to buy this story of a leaping nose, but the Illustration Friday theme this week is “Leap,” so what recourse did I have?

A nose with freckles and green “Chucks”…does it get any cuter than that? Love the atmosphere and the ditty too! You’re so clever :^)

Nicely done, I like the “green” shoes…

OK! Thats it Linda! If ADs or Editors don’t find you soon, I will personally go kick them and say “Hello!! ” haven’t you seen this amazing talent that’s been out there in front of your noses!”
Ok, maybe I can’t say that… but I sure would like too :o)

This one is Hilarious!!!!! love it, love it, love it!
How do you find the time to draw so much? I have 4 kids still at home and a wife that is demanding hahahahaha. I have trouble just keeping up with my day job and then try to draw for my publishers when I get home.
By the way, How dose one become a member of illustration Friday?

Thanks so much you guys! All you wonderful talented people give me so much support and encouragement to stay up late after the day job and continue to work on the thing I love the most.
Vhrsti, Bobo and Roberta, thanks visiting often and nudging me. Alicia, you’re so darn cute for saying that. Maybe you could be my agent and I can be yours. It’s easier to sell someone else’s stuff, eh?
John, thanks for the compliments. I know what you mean. Athough, I don’t have children, I do have an encouraging husband and three affection-hounding kitties… oh and did I mention the day job, hee hee. So my only choice is to stay up too late. My mom and husband yell at me sometimes, (in an encouraging way of course.)
Easy to get involved in the wonderful, awesome, magical world of Illustration Friday. Just go here http://illustrationfriday.com/ and you can read the instructions. It’s very inspirational, and the community is full of great great folk.

How did I miss this one? It’s wonderful, as always. Great job on the colour, the purple darkness is absolutely perfect. You always inspire me to try more painting in Photoshop. Thanks for the inspiration and everything, but, how about some tips on how to add a few more hours to my day?
I saw what you said above about the day job, etc., and staying up late, I am SO with you, sistah…

My name is Ben Matte and I am in fourth grade. I would like to use your poem on my report on the nose. It is really funny and I want to read it to the class and put the picture on my poster.Would this be OK with you?
