fail
April 14, 2008
Henrietta prided herself on being one of the rare hens with teeth and never failed to brush them.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………...
I’m still on this animal idiom kick. I imagine it’s because ideas for daily sketches can be a bit elusive at times and this theme is pretty rich with visuals. Why, I haven’t even exhausted the chicken phrases yet.
Let’s see, there was the “chicken who crossed the road”, supposedly to get to the other side. However, I think that’s “a cock-and -bull story.” If she hadn’t “counted her chickens before they hatched”, she may not have “chickened out”. Now, she’ll have to wait “till the “chickens come home to roost.”
Sorry, had to get that get that off my chest.

I’m cheating a bit. This is from an older post. I freshened Henrietta up a bit with some color and pushed her chicken butt back on the stage. If you would like to see the older post and the black and white image, take a look here.
The Illustration Friday theme this week is “Fail.”

Henrietta! How I have missed you!
This was the drawing that was up the very first time I visited your blog, so I always think of it when I think of your illustrations…
Love the new header!

Thanks, that’s so cool. She’s one of my favorites, which is why, when I decided to be lazy, I chose her to dust off.
Thanks about the header too. It was way overdue. I’m so glad you like it!

You have managed to really crack me up with this one! I love her waddle hanging down as she brushes, and her slippers. Heehee….it’s okay to cheat on IF – I never saw this one before and i love it!

Wonderful wonderful wonderful Henrietta!!!
She is so nice and a little untidy, she has sparkling teeth, and slippers a little tight…with her everyone is in a good mood.

Cute as a wet hen or is it Mad as a wet hern? Whatever? It is really cute. Gotta love those teeth.

I guess if a chicken has lips it has to have teeth. I love her colorized version! I’m going through a dental transformation myself. I hope I look as good as Henrietta by the time I’m through.

Fun illustration! Great expression. Ha! I like the way her feet fit into her slippers. And the toothpaste falling to the floor helps give your illustration some animation. Nice!
