a runcible spoon?
August 27, 2008
So I was sitting around sketching at lunch and “The Owl and the Pussycat” just popped onto the page. Only problem is, I got them mixed up. The Owl is supposed to be the one playing guitar. Oh, well, I imagine after more than a century, the kitty would like get some licks in.
Get it… licks… guitar licks… and kitties lick themselves?
Yeah, fine, whatever, I’m going to bed.
THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT
by Edward Lear
The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
“O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are, you are, you are,
What a beautiful Pussy you are.” Read the rest of this entry »
feets of clay
August 25, 2008
I was playing around with some polymer clay this weekend and this guy took shape. He was growing tired of his 2 dimensional lot in life and was anxious to be useful as either a key chain or perhaps an ornament.
We’re still in negotiations, so we’ll see.
olympic moments…
August 24, 2008
Sadly, most of the world’s daily routine of watching the Olympics has come to an end. So, to ease the transition I’ve enlisted the help of various bunnies to reenact a few Olympic highlights. We’ve put this together for you whilst watching the closing ceremonies… which by the way, were spectacular.
empty head
August 22, 2008
Been a little down in the dumps the past week. As a result I’ve slacked on blogging duties and my head has been completely devoid of ideas – of any kind. However, I am happy to report, as of this morning, I think I might have my mojo back… whatever mojo is… I think I have it back!
Perhaps there’s a bit too much mojo on that super long, left arm of hers, eh?
*sigh*
Hey, I’m tryin’ over here.
Oh, also, wanted to mention a few of the sweet folks that helped pull me out of my doldrums this week.
First, the beautiful, talented Cata of Cata’s Illustration and Crafts bestowed upon me a wonderful “Super Blogger” award.
Also the multi-talented, wonderful Julia and Bobo over at Bobo’s Fun Place, the hilarious, whimsical Erin of Rapture Pet Sitting Service and a new friend, über talented Carlyn of Ballyhoo, who graced me with the “I Love Your Blog” award.
I love all four of these gals and want to thank them along with everyone who commented this past mojo-less week… you are all mojo rejuvenaters!
I need to choose my 7 peeps now, and I will be posting more about these awards, but wanted to get a shout out to you sweeties ASAP!
Thank you , thank you, thank you!
detached
August 18, 2008
I’m feeling a bit detached this week.
Hanging out at the mall this weekend, I observed the legions of fellow detached humans and scrawled out a very rough impression.
Detached? Or are they? I don’t know anymore. They seem to be attached to someone, but certainly not the one they are physically with.
What do you think?
sail
August 11, 2008
The Illustration Friday theme this week is “Sail.”
Sadly, I have some family business to attend to this week and will be out of town for most of it. I’ll miss all you blog pals and IFers since I will be quite utterly computerless. I will be back next week with bells on! Ok, maybe not bells. More likely a sketchbook, pencil and scanner, poised and ready to roll.
In the mean time, I have once again, shamelessly reposted. This time the flying wiener dog, sailing through the air with the greatest of ease.
Close enough, eh? See you all soon!
bending over backwards
August 7, 2008
So I was sketching out yet another idiom and I got to thinking… hey, today is the opening ceremony for the Olympics. Despite the politics and controversy, ya just gotta love the Olympics and this opening ceremony promises to be spectacular! Can’t wait!
Anyway… about that idiom… ahem, when you inconvenience yourself to help another, you might say you are bending over backwards for that person. You might say that… if you are a drama queen, that is! Whining over it like that somewhat tarnishes the good deed, don’t you think. Get over it, huh?
Alright then.
Speaking of drama queens, my good friend Barnabus T. Bunniwell has selflessly agreed to demonstrate the act of bending over backwards on a balance beam, whilst showing us his national pride. Let’s give Barnabus a big hand.
Go U.S.A.!

poof!
August 1, 2008
Penelope Kellogg,
married a bull-frog.
hoping he’d become a prince.
When she planted a kiss
on his future highness,
POOF! he turned into a blintz!

The Illustration Friday theme this week is “Poof!”
As I wondered and wondered what to do for this weeks theme… POOF!… I remembered an old post I could re-purpose!
It’s the first time I ever submitted an Illustration Friday… on a Friday!
