hula kitty
September 17, 2008
The Illustration Friday theme this week is “Island,” and of course, the first thing that pops into my head when I here the word island are all the stories I’ve heard of the mythical hula kitty and her ukulele accompanying mouse Ray… living on an island in the Milken Sea.
Right… am I lyin’? Tell me that’s not the first thing that pops into your head.

Oooh…this is so great!!! Your characters always have just the right attitude! Love it!
If you’ll ever make a book with your idiom bunnies and one all about kitties, I’d buy them both!!

Oh,my….LOL! I burst out laughing the moment I clicked on your blog. You are so funny! That hula kitty is quite a babe! I think Ray had better watch out…if she gets to rocking and swaying too much with her eyes closed, she may just squash the uke player ๐ Someone needs to tell her that she needs the next size larger hula skirt…or shake off a few pounds.

Mouse Ray rocks! ๐ This is great, linda.

I love how Hula Kitty gets into a perfect trance-like state when she dances. Just mesmerizing!
I hear the locals all have Hula Kitty shaking her hips on their dashboards. ๐
That Ray is just too darn cute!! Too bad he often gets overshadowed.

That’s a very wonderful story and illustration. Very nicely done. If you view my illustration you’ll see what came to my head first.

Definitely, the first thing that popped into my head when I thought about the topic island, but I figured everyone on IF would be drawing hula kitties too. ๐ Great illustration!

She’s got a love-er-lee bunch of coconuts! You absolutely slay me! Have I ever told you that before? Well, it bears repeating. And, ahem, you’ve captured my shape perfectly. No really, when you see me you’ll say “She wasn’t kidding!”
Maybe I should do the hula more often?
September 18, 2008 at 9:20 pm
The look on that kitty’s face is priceless! Hula Kitty is in the zone!!! I learned a few hula dances when I was little and they left a big impression on me and I can do them to this day ๐ i love Hula Kitty and Ray!
September 19, 2008 at 12:09 am
Glorious, glorious! Of COURSE that’s what popped into my head first (heehee)! I hear hula burns those calories…. Happy Blog Birthday to you! Hoooooorayyy!
September 19, 2008 at 5:42 am
I love EVERYTHING about this! especially the mouse’s name. ๐
September 19, 2008 at 4:00 pm
hmmm, I’m not so sure Hula Kitty and Ukulele Ray are mythical… of course if you don’t believe in such things like Bumbles (which bounce), Nessie, Chupacobra, Sasquatch (or Sacajawea, sometimes my hubby gets confused, “messing with sacajawea”) then maybe they are mythical or are they?…
September 20, 2008 at 3:15 am
hi Linda again! i have a sweeet blog award for you (oh, yes! an award again!) over at my blog – for your sweeet bunnies and kitties and footies ๐
September 20, 2008 at 8:28 am
Well, I’d never have thought that Ray would go along, alone… But then again, myths do have to have a certain amount of mystery to charm us all, I have to admit.
September 21, 2008 at 8:31 am

I can’t help it. Especially now that we’ve met! You really, really made my weekend, and Tom is so awesome. I think every woman should have such a nice guy!
Thank you both for everything.
Now go hug Joey before he has a breakdown.
