ODE TO PET PEEVES

My day starts out blissfully, bright and content,
an excellent start, I believe.
I drive down the road with a song in my heart.
Oh how could I be so naive?

The woman in front of me picks up her cell,
causing her Hummer to weave.
The guy to my rear feels the need to tail gate.
ME OFF, they are starting to peeve!

………………………………………………………..

The Illustration Friday theme this week is “Pet Peeves.”

This week I played around with some Photoshop free brushes offered by Alex Dukal. He is a wonderful artist. Drop by and take a peek at his work. I can’t wait to really dig in and utilize his brushes in the future, they are brilliant.

Oh and by the way, I was directed to these brushes by my blogging buddy Angela, over at Angelato. While your at it, stop by her blog as well. You won’t be disappointed.

    Pure Peeved Perfection!

Really, the background is Photoshopped? Your digital illustrations always impress me.

I haven’t stop laughing from reading Kate’s post, and you make me laugh again. You seem having a good exercise at the back there. BTW, what’s this creature call? (Please forgive my ignorance!) XD

Looks like something from a Dr. Suess book! 🙂

And thanks for the link to those brushes. Those are awesome; didn’t know you could do stuff like that with Photoshop. Thankfully some do know how to harness all of its power, and are willing to share their knowledge and creations!

Cell phone drivers are the first peeve to come to my mind this week as well. Great poem, and fun pet!

I love how you did the page edges with the brushes. 🙂

  6. artseafartsea Says:

He’s even better than I’d imagined.

This is wonderful! All those silly people think they look cool with their phones and their hummers, i like you, find it one big bummer! So i’m sorry i am such an ignoramous but this piece is not a watercolour and pencil it was created by using the brushes that Alex created? I really love your art every time i come here!!! 🙂

  18. sketched out Says:

Thanks everyone, for stopping by and commenting. I really love hearing from y’all!

I feel I should clarify however, that the lil peeve sketch was done in pencil and scanned. I used Alex’s brushes to paint the background color. They do a pretty good job eh? I love these brushes.

Oh, and the edge is a frame I downloaded ages ago. Although I’m sure a similar effect could have been made with these brushes. Sometimes I slap together little water color frames and scan them. They come handy.

I’m all over the place. I love traditional techniques, but find digital so fast and so editable, it’s hard to resist combining the two.
